Paul Niculescu-Mizil

Paul Niculescu - Mizil (* November 25, 1923, † December 6, 2008 in Bucharest ) was a Romanian communist politician and several years Deputy Prime Minister of Romania.

Life

Niculescu - Mizil joined in 1945 the Romanian Communist Party ( PCR) at. In the following years he rose from the Rector of the Party School " Ştefan Gheorghiu " in 1955 as Deputy Director of the Historical Institute of the PCR and was at the same time until 1989, member of the Central Committee (CC ) of the PCR. Already in the following year he became head of the Propaganda Department of the Central Committee of the PCR and held this post until 1968. 1965 he was elected member of the Political Executive Committee of the Central Committee, whose member he also remained until the fall of Nicolae Ceausescu in 1989.

He was appointed Deputy Prime Minister of Romania in 1972. In addition to this first post he held until 1976, the office of the Minister of Education before he was finance minister in addition between March 7, 1978 and 30 March 1981. Subsequently, he was until 1989 Chairman of the State Enterprise CENTRO COOP.

For his contributions to the Communist Party of Romania, he was, among other things in 1961 with the medal "40th Anniversary of the founding of the PCR " (" A 40 -a aniversare de la înfiinţarea Partidului Comunist din România " ) awarded. In August 2008, he underwent an operation already seriously ill in Germany.

After the fall of Ceausescu, he was sentenced to three years in prison, but was pardoned by President Ion Iliescu.
