Paul of Kolomna

Pavel of Kolomna, Paul of Kolomna and Pavel of Kolomna (Russian Павел Коломенский, scientific transliteration Pavel Kolomenskij; † 6 Apriljul / April 16 1656greg. . ) Was a renowned Russian clergyman of the 17th century and is a martyr of the Old Believers.

On October 17, 1652 he became bishop of Kolomna. The reform activity of the Patriarch Nikon came across his resistance. It was in 1654 suspended from his episcopal office, banished to Paleostrowsk monastery on an island of Lake Onega and in 1656 moved to Chutyn Monastery in Novgorod. There he is said to have been executed on April 16, 1656 at the stake.
