Paul Prudhomme

Paul Prudhomme ( born July 13, 1940 in Opelousas, Louisiana) is an American chef, restaurateur and cookbook author. He has announced an updated version of the original Cajun cooking on the Cajun Country of Louisiana in the south addition.

Prudhomme cooks in many television shows, has written a number of cookbooks and own spice line called Magic on the market.

Career

Prudhomme grew up as the youngest of 13 siblings on a farm near Opelousas in St. Landry Parish in Louisiana on. Some of his family members already operating in and around Lafayette restaurants or working as cooks.

Opened in 1979, Paul Prudhomme and his late wife later K Hinrichs Prudhomme in the French Quarter of New Orleans restaurant K- Paul's Louisiana Kitchen, which the way of preparation " Blackened " especially for redfish and steak introduced in the early 1980s. In January 1981, he cooked at the inauguration of U.S. President Ronald Reagan. In 1986, he released his first cookbook Chef Paul Prudhomme 's Louisiana Kitchen on the market, several weeks remained on the bestseller list of the New York Times and contains many original recipes of the restaurant.

Prudhomme was the first American chef who was awarded the Mérite agricole French. 1986 elected him the American Culinary Federation for Culinarian of the Year.

Since May 2007 Prudhomme has his own cooking show on PBS, titled Chef Paul Prudhomme 's Always Cooking!
