Paul Richter

Paul Martin Eduard Richter ( born April 1, 1895 in Vienna, † December 30, 1961 ) was an Austrian actor.

Life

After an aborted business apprenticeship Paul Richter learned acting at the State Conservatory in Vienna. After his training, he has appeared on in Mannheim and was seen in Vienna at the Jarno stages and the Municipal Theatre. As early as 1914 he stood for smaller roles in front of the movie camera. After the end of the First World War, in which he had participated as a volunteer at the Kaiser hunters, he worked almost exclusively for the film.

In the film Paul Richter was soon set to the role of the heartthrob, bon vivant or fighting heroes and daredevil because of its attractive appearance and its athletic body. With age, he was then common to see a performer of landlords, aristocrats, foresters and officers. His most famous role is that of Siegfried in Fritz Lang 's monumental silent film classic The Nibelungen of 1924.

Paul Richter was married from 1924 to 1931 with the Norwegian actress Aud Egede -Nissen, with whom he also stood together in front of the camera. On display were the two in Dr. Mabuse, the Gambler and as lovers in The King of center forward. Aud Egede Nissen - son Georg Richter ( he had assumed the surname of the stepfather ) from her previous marriage to actor George Alexander was also active in the film industry.

Thanks to its classical theater training Paul Richter was able to continue successfully after the transition from silent films to talkies his career. He played a total of more than seventy films, some major and many minor roles. After the Second World War, the passionate climbers and hunters Paul Richter was still visible in several home movies, before he ended his career in 1959 as a result of eye surgery. It is located in the cemetery Weidling near Klosterneuburg in Austria buried.
