Paul Thorn

Paul Thorn ( born July 13, 1964 in Kenosha, Wisconsin, United States) is an American singer and songwriter whose style is a mix of blues and rock music.

Life

Thorns family moved with him around as a toddler to Tupelo, Mississippi, where he grew up. He is the cousin of Stan Thorn, the keyboard player of the band Shenandoah. Before he began his music career, Thorn was a professional boxer for a short time and fought in a televised throughout the U.S. fight against former world champion Roberto Durán. He also won a championship in the middleweight division for the Midwest in Memphis, Tennessee.

In the following years, Thorn played in the local clubs and worked in a furniture factory. The music manager Miles Copeland, brother of drummer Stewart Copeland of the band The Police, discovered his abilities. He signed a recording contract with A & M Records in 1997 and produced his first album, Hammer & Nail. It was followed by seven more albums and television, among other things Jimmy Kimmel Live! In early 2008.

Thorn played before appearing at concerts of various famous artists, such as Sting, John Prine, Marianne Faithfull, Mark Knopfler, Robert Cray, Bonnie Raitt, Toby Keith and Jeff Beck.
