Paul Unwin (director)

Paul Unwin ( b. 1957 in England ) is a British screenwriter, director and film producer.

Life

Unwin, who has worked both in film and television as well as for the theater, was among other things, the artistic director of Bristol Old, where he brought as a director of numerous productions, among others, William Shakespeare, Bertolt Brecht and Ibsen on stage. He also staged at the National Theatre and the Gate Theatre. He also wrote three plays itself. For the British television, he has directed numerous series for the BBC and ITV as EastEnders, Silent Dalton and Agatha Christie's Poirot. Along with Jeremy Brock, he had the idea for the hospital drama Casualty, which in 2011 celebrated its 25th anniversary, and for which he contributed the screenplay for numerous episodes.

His short film Syrup in 1995 was nominated for an Oscar.
