Paula Wolf-Kalmar

Paula Wolf Squid (* March 1881 in Zagreb as Paula Kalmar, † September 29, 1931 in Vienna) was an Austrian chess player.

Squid Wolf was the strongest chess player in Austria. She was a student of Richard Réti and Heinrich Wolf, whose wife she was. In the three World Chess Championships of women in their lifetime they reached the 1927 and 1930 and third in 1931 to second place. In each won Vera Menchik.

During the World Chess Championship for women in 1931 showed Squid Wolf health problems due to their long standing diabetes, but her death came as a surprise.
