Pavel Štěpán

Pavel Stepan ( born May 28, 1925 in Brno, † 30 September 1998 in Prague ) was a classical pianist.

Stepan followed up on in his career to the traditions of his family. He was the grandson of piano teachers Vilém Kurz, son of piano virtuoso and teacher Ilona Piano Štěpánová - Kurzova and composer, theorist and pianist Vaclav Stepan. The family maintained close relations with the composer Josef Suk, and could in the conduct of his piano works made ​​directly after his personal interpretation instructions.

With 16 years Stepan occurred for the first time to the public, two years later, he played with the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra under the baton of Rafael Kubelik. In the years 1971 and 1982 Supraphon was awarded to him as a performer with the Viennese musical clock. In 1976 he received the Golden Plate Supraphon for the best recording of the year and the complete recording of the piano works of Josef Suk.
