Pavel Alekseyevich Sukosjan (Russian Павел Алексеевич Сукосян; born January 14, 1962 in Krasnodar, Soviet Union ) is a Russian handball player, who plays for Russian club HC Sungul Snezhinsk.

Playing career

Association

The 2.00 m wide and 125 -kg handball goalkeeper started his career at the Soviet- Russian top club CSKA Moscow, with whom he won the 1994 and 1995 Russian Championship. He then played for the German clubs Leutershausen SG and SG Werra 92 before joining for a year back to Moscow in 1998. In 1999, he then went to the Regionalliga for HSG Kronau / Bad Schönborn, with which he ascended to the 2nd Bundesliga 2000. In 2002 he returned to his home and plays after working for GK Neva St. Petersburg and Volgograd caustic with over 50 years even in the Russian League and the EHF European Cup 2012/13 GK Sungul Snezhinsk.

National

Pawel Sukosjan is one of the most successful handball players, even though the national team, he was overshadowed by Andrei Lavrov during his entire career. He then played at least 145 times for the Russian national team and became world champion in 1993 and 1997 and Vice World Champion 1999. At the European Championships in 1996 he was European champion in 1994 and 2000 Vice European Champion 1998 fourth. At the 2000 Olympics in Sydney, he won his second gold medal. At the Olympic Games in Atlanta in 1996, he was fifth. At the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens, he was in the squad, but was not used.
