Pavlov's Dog (band)
Pavlov 's Dog is an American, was founded in St. Louis, Missouri 1972 rock band whose sound is distinctive by the expressive extremely high falsetto voice of lead singer David Surkamp. Pavlov 's Dog originally consisted of David Surkamp (vocals and guitar), Steve the guitarist ( lead guitar later with REO Speedwagon ), Mike Safron (drums), Rick Stockton ( bass guitar ), David Hamilton (keyboard), Doug Rayburn ( mellotron and flute) and Sigfried Carver ( born Richard Nadler, various string instruments including the rare Vitar, a combination of guitar and violin).
The first, especially rock album of the band Pampered Menial was released in 1975 in the U.S., Germany and France with Columbia Records. The most popular song Julia from this album is still regularly played by radio stations. The song has since been recorded in various Hitsammlungen such as the Hitgiganten Love Songs CD by Sony BMG on 25 November 2005.
Sigfried Carver left the band after the first album. In 1976, the band released their second album At the Sound of the Bell, which was less hard and more melodic. David Hamilton left the band and was replaced by Tom Nickeson. The former drummer of Yes, Bill Bruford, and came as a session musician.
The band recorded in 1977 with drummer Kirk Sarkisian on their third album. Due to the weak sales of the first two albums but Columbia Records refused to release, terminated the contract and the band split. The third album was released only as a bootleg in the eighties in a small number of stolen master tapes. It was published as The St. Louis Hounds, without mentioning the name " Pavlov 's Dog " on the cover. The album was illegally published in 1994 by the German label TRC, under the name of the third. On July 5, 1989 Sony introduced the first two albums out as a double CD.
In the nineties, Pavlov 's Dog was re-established, again with David Surkamp and Doug Rayburn from the original line. They played for the American label Telectro Lost in America, which was released in Europe by the label TRC illegally. Only in 2007 appeared "Lost In America" regularly in Europe at Rockville Music. In parallel, Mike Safron tried in 1990 in a revival of the band. Without original singer David Surkamp was created under the band name " Pavlov 's Dog 2000", the unsuccessful album "End Of The World", which was published in Kanned Goose Records.
On June 26, 2004 took place in St. Louis, Missouri on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of " Pampered Menial " a memorial concert in the original cast of place in 1974, with the exception of Sigfried Carver. Pavlov's Dog 2007 signed with the German label Rockville Music a new record deal. As a result, the world's first legal version of the third album was released, titled Has Anyone Here Seen now with Sigfried? Supplemented with 10 bonus tracks of unreleased live and studio recordings from 1973 to 1977. It was also Lost In America first published globally, including this supplemented with 8 bonus tracks. In October 2010, the studio album " Echo & Boo", the former Pavlov's Dog musician Sigfried Carver aka Richard Nadlerd was dedicated to the 30th of May had passed the age of 60 in Kansas published in 2009. Band name
The band's name (Eng. " Pavlov's Dog" ) alludes to the famous trial of the Russian behavioral scientist Ivan Petrovich Pavlov, in which he proved the conditional reflex in dogs.
