Paweł Skrzecz

Paweł Skrzecz ( born August 25, 1957 in Warsaw ) is a retired Polish boxer. Skrzecz was bronze medalist at the European Championships in 1979 and silver medalist at the 1980 Olympic Games, the World Championships in 1982 and the European Championships in 1983.

Career

In the youth level ( U19) Skrzecz won the championship of the Eastern Bloc in 1972.

In 1976 Skrzecz middleweight ( -75 kg ) for the first time at the European championships, but did not get beyond the first fight and the following year he won, as well as 1978, the police of the Eastern Bloc Championships Light Heavyweight ( -81 kg ). In the same year he first participated in the World Championships but also lost his first fight here already.

At the European Championships in 1979 Skrzecz won his first international medal. Inter alia After victories against Ondrej Pustai, Czech Republic ( 5:0 ), he lost in the semi-final against Albert Nikolyan, Soviet Union ( 4-1 ), and thus won the bronze medal. The following year he participated in the 1980 Olympics and won the silver medal. He won against Mohamed Bouchiche, Algeria, Giorgica Donici, Romania ( 4:1), and Ricardo Rojas Frías, Cuba ( 3-2 ), and lost in the final against Slobodan Kačar, Yugoslavia (4:1), which he, the Olympic silver medal won.

1981 different Skrzecz at the European Championships in the first fight against Donici from (5-0 ). However, at the World Championships the following year he came to wins over Luis Quintana, Colombia (RSC 2 ), Bennie Heard, USA (5-0 ), and Pero Tadic, Yugoslavia (4:1), to the final, which he compared Pablo Romero, Cuba (5-0 ), lost and thus won the silver medal.

In his first last international championships, the European Championships in 1983, won Skrzecz after victories among others about Juha Hanninen, Finland ( 5:0 ), and Eyup Ciftci, Turkey ( 5:0 ) before the final Vitaliy Kachanovskiy, Soviet Union (5-0 ) was defeated.
