Pearl gene

Pearl is a gene that lightens the color of horses to a light sand color or a light gray. Foxes, which are brightened by the Pearl gene have on the extremities including mane and tail a pale sand color, sable with Pearl are light gray. Horses that have both the Pearl and the Cream gene can see from similar Cremellos, Perlinos and Smoky Creams.

Genetics

Pearl ( Prl / prl ) has been discovered only recently in the United States. Pearl inherited recessive, that is, in animals that have it only once, the allele does not come to expression. In homozygous form, it brightens the skin on like the Cremegen in heterozygous form.

Breeds

Pearl was detected in Pasos, Tinkern, Iberian horse breeds such as the Lusitano, PRE and Andalusians, as well as Paint Horses and American Quarter Horses, especially in horses that descended from " Barlink Macho Man ". This stallion was therefore initially named for the mutation, which was called in the USA only " Barlink Factor " and later " Apricot ". Today it has been agreed with all breeds of horses on Pearl.
