The Pecatonica River rises in the hills in Iowa County in southwest Wisconsin. He initially flows in a south-southeast direction at Darlington over to Illinois. It flows through the city of Freeport and then turns to the east. He passed the place Pecatonica, takes the Sugar River on the left side, and finally empties into Rockton in the Rock River, a tributary of the Mississippi River. The Pecatonica River has a length of 312 km. It drains an area of ​​6753 km ², of which 4690 km ² are in Wisconsin.
