Pecka

Pecka ( German Pecka ) is a Městys with 1254 inhabitants ( 1 January 2004) in the Czech Republic. It is situated in 407 m asl south in the hills of the Giant Mountains between Nová Paka and Dvůr Králové.

History

The story of the 1322 first mentioned place Pecka is closely connected with the castle Pecka. In the Thirty Years' War, Albrecht von Wallenstein acquired Pecka and gave the place he founded the Carthusian monastery Certosa. Today Pecka is a leisure area. In 2007 the status was renewed as Městys.
