Pedro Boese

Life and work

Pedro Boese was born in Beira, Mozambique. From 1993 to 1997 he studied painting and graphic art at the Academy of Fine Arts Maastricht (Netherlands). From 1998 to 2001 he studied at the Institute for Art in Context and an intern there from 2000, two years at Lothar Baumgarten at the Berlin University.

Of particular importance are the circle and the rectangle in his paintings. Again and again he explores the possibilities of this central for him forms. While early works exclusively from the superposition of the glazing, applied circles created in the image plane, followed by the image construction from around 2006 a grid- like system. This increasingly stringent gesture is canceled in new works by partially removing machining again.
