Peer Gynt (mountainroad)

The Peer Gynt Vegen (also: Peer Gynt Veien, Norwegian ( bokmål ): Peer Gyntveien, Norwegian ( nynorsk ): Peer Gynt vegen ) is a 60 -kilometer long, largely toll high mountain road in Espedalen, the western tributary of the Gudbrandsdalen in eastern Norway which the localities Skeikampen, Gålå, Fefor and Dalseter together.

The pavement consists mostly of gravel. The road is to drive only in the summer and, as soon as the first snow falls, locked. The Peer Gynt road is mainly used by tourists as well as residents who live in the high mountains ( 1000 meters ) or at least have a hut.

Is named the road after the dramatic poem Peer Gynt by Henrik Ibsen from the year 1867.
