Peetzsee

The Peetzsee belongs to Grünheider chain of lakes, 35 km south-east of Berlin in the village green heath near Erkner. The chain of lakes from Möllensee to Werlsee is part of the so-called other inland waterways of the Federal Löcknitz ( Lo), which opens at Erkner in the Flakensee Rüdersdorfer waters. Responsible is the Waterways and Shipping Office Berlin. The lake has a maximum depth of 19 meters, an average of 4 to 5 feet. Over short channels ( New Löcknitz ) it is connected with the Möllensee to the north ( inflow ) and the Werlsee westward ( outflow). Summer is here a brisk sailing, swimming and fishing is allowed. Something is known of the lake for its beautiful big carp and tench. The name is derived from the Slavic word for pêsŭkŭ sand.
