Pentene

(Also referred to amylenes ) pentenes are hydrocarbons having the empirical formula C5H10, which have a carbon-carbon double bond (abbreviated C - C double bond ). They thus belong to the group of alkenes. There are five constitutional isomers pentenes, of which pent- 2-ene can be present as cis -or trans- isomer. As a mixture of isomers come Pentenes ago in cracking gases and natural gas. Another constitutional isomer is the cyclopentane, this is not a pentene.

Structure and Properties

The vapor pressure functions arise after Antoine corresponding log10 (P) = A- ( B / ( T C )) ( P in bar, T in K) as follows:

Extraction

Pentenes are ingredients in coal tar, in shale oil in cracking gases and gasoline cracking and can be obtained by fractional distillation. In a pyrolysis of rubber is formed at the other 2-methyl -but- 1-ene and 2- methylbut- 2-ene.

Pentenes formed by dehydration (elimination of water) from pentanols (so-called amyl alcohol ). In this way, can be obtained eg from fusel oils Pentenes (so-called Fuselölamylen ).

Use

Pentenes be used for the synthesis of Amylphenolen, isoprene and pentanols, and used for the polymerization. Amylenes also be added as stabilizers chloroform and dichloromethane, to intercept the air and produced under the influence of light phosgene.
