People's Liberal Party

The People's Liberal Party ( Bulgarian Народнолиберална партия, short VLP) is a historic, liberal political party in Bulgaria. It was founded in 1886 after the coup of 1886, as a splinter group of the Liberal Party ( Bulg Либерална Партия / Liberalna Partija, founded in 1879 ).

Party Middle newspapers were " Swoboda " ( Bulg Свобода, dt freedom ) and "Now wek " ( Bulg Нов век, about: New Century ).

History

On Russian operating a group pro-Russian officers staged a coup against the Bulgarian ruler Alexander I. and forced him to abdicate on August 9, 1886. He was then dragged out of the country to Russia. With the support of the Bulgarian Parliament Speaker Stefan Stambolov, the gegenputschte with the help of the military, was Alexander I to Bulgaria and again briefly return to the throne. During this time a group to Stambolov of the Liberal Party from which would later form the core of the VLP is split. The party organization, but was only 1890. By 1894, they presented the government of Bulgaria.

After the assassination of party leader Stefan Stambolov in 1895, Dimitar Petkov headed the party. In the next time unsuccessful negotiations on an association with the Liberal Party Radoslawowisten were performed, after which the party chairmanship in 1896 passed into Dimitar Grekow.
