The Pepsi 420 was a race in the NASCAR Winston Cup. It was fought from 1958 to 1984 each year at the Nashville Speedway USA. In the first edition in 1958, the race distance was 200 miles. Back in 1959 it was increased to 300 to be traveled miles and 1960 to 400 to be traveled miles. From 1961 to 1962, the race " Nashville 500 " was called, so that even 500 miles had to be completed. However, the race was shortened in 1961 due to rain, so the race distance was finally back around 400 miles. The race in 1962 went the full distance and was thus the longest ever discharged on the Nashville Speedway USA Winston Cup race. From 1963 to 1969, the race was called back then " Nashville 400 ". From 1970 420 laps were to drive.
After it came to disputes over the question of the manager Speedway in 1985, NASCAR from the 1985 season no longer race at the Nashville Speedway USA decided to unsubscribe.
