Per Borten

Per braids ( born April 3, 1913 in Flå, South Trøndelag, † 20 January 2005 in Trondheim ) was a Norwegian politician ( center ) and Prime Minister of 1965 until 1971.

Braids began his political career as mayor of Flå in the province of Sør -Trøndelag ( 1946-1955 ). He was elected to the Norwegian Parliament in 1949 and retained his seat until his resignation in 1977. Minister of State as he led a center-right coalition, which consisted of four parties. He was president of Odelsting ( one of the two departments of the Norwegian Parliament ), was leader of the Centre Party and the president of 1955 until 1967.

Bortens resignation as Prime Minister was because he had divulged secret information about Norway in the EC negotiations. After his resignation, he remained still in the public present and expressed particular on issues such as nuclear disarmament, the use of undercover investigators or Norway's relations with the European Community. Under the braids Bondepartiet ( Peasant Party ) was transformed into the present center party. He was an active opponent of the Norwegian accession to the EC.
