Per Gahrton

Gahrton ( born February 2, 1943 in Malmö) is a Swedish politician of the Miljöpartiet de Gröna.

Life

Gahrton studied sociology and graduated with a doctorate from. From 1976 to 1979 he sat for the Liberal People's Party as a Member of the Swedish Parliament.

After his retirement from Parliament he left the People's Party and in 1981 became a co-founder of the Swedish countryside. From 1984 to 1985 he worked as a party of two speakers. 1988-1991 and again in 1994-1995 he sat as an MP for the Green Party in the Reichstag. From 1995 to 2004 he was a member of the European Parliament.

Since 2004 Gahrton is chairman of the pro-Palestinian solidarity movement Palestinagrupperna i Sverige.
