Periodeutes

A Periodeut is in the Eastern Churches, a higher clergy ( priests ) who was charged with the visit to the rural communities and has been specially ordained.

With the decline of the choir bishops increasingly Periodeuten were used. In some churches, both offices are next to each other. In Armenia and Georgia, there was never Periodeuten. Today they are available in churches of Syrian origin, where they have different rights and responsibilities.
