Perse (mythology)

The nymph Perse or Perseis (Greek Περσηίς ) is a daughter of Oceanus and Tethys, and thus one of the 3000 Oceanids. It is regarded as Greek goddess of the new moon and thus represents the counterpart to Selene, the goddess of the full moon, dar. partly Perse is regarded as identical with the powerful magic Hecate, in accordance with the disclosure of magical powers to some of their children.

Perse is married with Helios (or Apollo) and the mother of Circe, Pasiphae, Aeetes, Perses and (not the version of Homer accordingly) Calypso.
