The Cistercian monastery Perseigne is located in the extreme north of the Sarthe at the edge of the Forêt de Perseigne and the Parc Naturel Regional Normandie - Maine, just a few miles from Alençon. Geographically include the ruins of the abbey today to the municipality Neufchatel -en- Saosnois.

It was founded in the mid 12th century from Citeaux. The terrain had William III. Talvas, Count of Alençon, made ​​available. The monastery was dissolved in 1791. Today stand by him only a few walls.
