Perseusarm

The Perseusarm is a spiral galaxy of the Milky Way system. He is the closest outer spiral arm of the Orionarms, in which the solar system is, and is about 5,000 light- years further away from the center of the galaxy away than the Orionarm. The Perseusarm is especially visible near the constellation Perseus and there is about 41,000 light years from the center of the galaxy.

In 2005, an international group of scientists succeeded by far the most accurate determination of distance to the star-forming region W3 ( OH) in Perseusarm. You could measure the distance by triangulation using the Very Long Baseline Array ( VLBA ) directly and is 6357 ± 130 light-years. The measurement is based on the VLBA on a base length of about 8000 km at a radio frequency of 12 GHz.
