Peshtigo is a city in Marinette County, Wisconsin, United States. In the 2000 census, the town had 3,357 inhabitants, with an estimate of 2006, there were 3,287 inhabitants. The place was known as the scene of the Peshtigo fire in 1871.

The town has a total area of 8.3 km ².

On October 8, 1871 ( the same day as the Great Chicago Fire occurred ), devoured one is simplified by strong winds Peshtigo forest fire along with a dozen surrounding villages. The fire killed a total of 1200-2500 people and charred about 1.5 million acres (6000 km ²) area. The fire, known as " Peshtigo Fire", is in the American history of the forest fire with the most fatalities. Unidentifiable remains of hundreds of residents were buried in a mass grave in the " Peshtigo Fire Cemetery ".

In the census in 2000 Peshtigo had 3,357 inhabitants, distributed among 1,315 households, and 879 families. The population density was thus 425 inhabitants / km ². 98 % of the population were white, 0.12% African American. In 32.9 % of households were living children under 18 years. The average income was 34 898 U.S. dollars, with 8.2% of the population were below the poverty line.
