Peter Arntz

Petrus Wilhelmus "Peter" Arntz ( born February 5, 1953 in Leuth ) is a former Dutch football player.

Club career

Arntz was in the Eredivisie 1970-1976 for Go Ahead Eagles - and subsequently active until 1985 at AZ'67 - together with among others Bert van Marwijk.

His debut in the Eredivisie was the left midfielder in dress from Go Ahead on 7 February 1971 in the Amsterdam Arena in a 1:5 defeat against Ajax. His first goal in the highest Dutch league, he scored on December 19, 1971 at 2:2 at home against NEC. After 142 games ( 22 goals ) with the team from Deventer, he moved to AZ'67.

With Alkmaar 1981, he was Dutch champion and cup winner and took two more times the KNVB beker. In 1981 he came with AZ before in the finals of the UEFA Cup, which the team lost a total of 4:5. In the semi-finals of this competition he had previously scored one of his two goals in a total of 24 European games at FC Sochaux. His last league match with AZ Alkmaar he made on 25 May 1986. During 1-1 against HFC Haarlem, he was adopted in the 88th minute. In 16 years in the Eredivisie, he came to a total of 575 missions, where he scored 40 goals.

National

From 1975 to 1981 Arntz met five times in the Dutch national team to use. His start he gave on April 30, 1975 to 0:1 defeat against Belgium in Antwerp, where he was brought on after the break for Wim van Hanegem. After another campaign against Yugoslavia in May 1975, he was appointed to the squad for the Dutch Championship in 1976. In the final competition in Yugoslavia, he came to a bet; in the " small final " he was substituted after 70 minutes against his club colleague Kees Kist. In his last two appearances in the Orange Arntz had to wait almost five years; until early 1981, he played each still half time at the Mini World Cup in Uruguay against Italy and in the World Cup qualifier against Cyprus.

After the active time

In the 2000s, Arntz has worked as a scout for AZ Alkmaar.
