Peter Beckingham

Peter Beckingham (born 16 March 1949 in Essex, England ) is a British diplomat.

Life

1966 after graduating from high school Beckingham received a grant from the Nuffield Foundation to teach in Zambia. Subsequently he traveled in southern and eastern Africa. He met his wife, Jill, in Cambridge. 1968, after graduating from Selwyn College ( Cambridge ) traveled Beckingham six weeks with a scholarship in Israel. From 1968 to 1974 he worked at Argo Records ( UK ). From 1974 to 1979 he was employed by the British Overseas Trade Board ( BOTB ). In 1979, he joined the Foreign Service. The Foreign and Commonwealth Office, he led a department that tried to alleviate the famine in Ethiopia 1984-1985 and became Cadbury plc in London, Birmingham and Poland seconded. From 1981 to 1985 Peter Beckingham was at the British Information Services in New York busy. In 1988 he was Secretary of the Embassy in Stockholm. As of July 1992, he was Secretary of the British High Commissioner ( Commonwealth ) in Canberra. From August 1999 he was Consul-General in Sydney, From 2004 to 2009 he was ambassador in Manila. Since 1 February 2010, Peter Beckingham stellvervtretender British High Commissioner ( Commonwealth ) in Mumbai.
