Peter Berglar

Peter Berglar ( Hans -Peter Berglar - Schroer; born February 8, 1919 in Cassel, † November 10, 1989 in Cologne ) was a German physician and historian. He was among the first German members of the Catholic lay organization Opus Dei and published in 1983 a biography of the 2002 canonized founder Josemaria Escriva.

Life

Peter Berglar was born the son of the journalist and writer Paul Berglar. After graduation in 1937 at the grammar school in Darmstadt Berglar studied at the universities of Berlin and Frankfurt medicine and graduated in 1944 in Frankfurt. The study concurred with his military service. After the return from captivity he was three years editor of the Frankfurter stapling. Until 1966 he worked as a practicing internist in Cologne. Then Berglar began a study of the history, German literature and the Ibero -Latin American history, from which he graduated with a Ph.D. in 1969. After his habilitation in 1970 Berglar in 1971 extraordinary professor of Medieval and Modern History at the University of Cologne. He was buried at the Cologne Melaten Cemetery.
