Peter Boyle (epidemiologist)

Peter Boyle ( born June 8, 1951 in Glasgow ) is a Scottish epidemiologist.

Life

Peter Boyle has initially studied biostatistics at the University of Glasgow and wanted to be a teacher. Only a study project has attracted him to the epidemiology, where he also wrote his dissertation. His next career move took him to the local cancer registry and eventually to Harvard University, School of Public Health. He returned to Europe for the International Agency for Research on Cancer ( IARC) in Lyon, France. From this WHO agency then he was called to the European Institute of Oncology in Milan, one of the best private hospitals cancer in Italy, where he spent some 11 years. 2004 Boyle returns back as an elected director of the IARC. Since 2009 he has been President of the International Prevention Research Institute IPRI based in Lyon.

Services

Among the most important achievements of Peter Boyle the development and implementation of the European Code belongs to the fight against cancer. In addition, Peter Boyle deals with prevention research and Tranlationsforschung in the broadest sense. He is an invited speaker of many international scientific conferences and one of the leaders in the scientific fight against cancer.
