Peter Checkland

Peter Bernard Checkland ( born December 18, 1930 in Birmingham ) is a British management researchers.

After studying chemistry at St John 's College (Oxford), he worked 15 years at Imperial Chemical Industries. He then joined the Department of Systems Engineering at Lancaster University, where he launched a program of action research.

Checkland is the founder of Soft Systems Methodology of systems thinking. He is a multiple honorary doctorates ( City University London, Open University, Erasmus University Rotterdam, University of Economics, Prague).
