Peter Jablonski

Peter Jablonski ( * 1971 in Karlskrona - Lyckeby, southern Sweden) is a Swedish pianist of Polish descent.

Life

At age five he started on drums, with six on the piano. At age nine, he played at the Village Vanguard, but turned to the classical repertoire and played with eleven years a Mozart concert. At the same age he was admitted to the Academy of Music in Malmö. At the Royal College of Music in London, he studied piano and conducting. There he fell to Vladimir Ashkenazy, with whom he has performed often. In 1992, he debuted in Washington, DC, 1993 at the Royal Festival Hall in London.

His repertoire encompasses the so-called classical and the modern and contemporary music ( Scriabin, Prokofiev, Shostakovich, Gershwin ). He often plays works by Polish composers ( Szymanowski, Maciejewski ). Wojciech Kilar dedicated to him a piano concerto, which he premiered in Warsaw in 1998.

He founded the Karlskrona Chamber Music Festival.
