Peter Kaiser

Peter Kaiser ( born 1 November 1793 in Moors, † February 23, 1864 in Chur ) was an educator, historian and politician from Liechtenstein. In 1848 he was elected a deputy of the Principality of Liechtenstein in the Frankfurt National Assembly.

Life and work

Peter Kaiser was a versatile personality from the Principality of Liechtenstein, who worked as an educator, historian and politician, and Latin, Greek, Italian, English and French dominated. In his study of philosophy, history and law in Freiburg and Vienna, he came upon his membership in the fraternity Old Freiburg (1818 ) with its liberal- democratic ideology in conjunction. After he had taught at various schools in Switzerland, he was later rector of the grammar schools in Disentis and Chur. In 1847 he wrote the book for Liechtenstein pioneering history of the Principality of Liechtenstein.

Peter Kaiser, it is thanks to them that in 1848 began in his native unrest not led to violence. In his honor the memory of Peter Kaiser Foundation was founded in 1985.
