Peter Lawrence (anthropologist)

Peter Lawrence ( born 1921 in Lancashire, England; † December 12, 1987 in Sydney, Australia) was a native of England Australian anthropologist.

His main research work examines cargo cults in Melanesia; his research on the population of the Madang region of New Guinea began in 1949 (for example, the Yali movement). He taught at various Australian universities, most recently at the University of Sydney.
