Peter Marshall (author)

Peter Hugh Marshall ( born August 23, 1946 in Bognor Regis, England ) is a British historian and author.

Peter Hugh Marshall visited the Steyning Grammar School in Sussex. After that he was " purser cadet " in the P & O -Orient Shipping Company and sailed around the world before he was teaching English in Senegal, West Africa. He then returned to England and received a bachelor of arts in English, French and Spanish at the University of London and a Master's degree and a doctorate in philosophy at the University of Sussex. He taught philosophy and literature at several UK universities and colleges.

Marshall wrote a total of 15 books which have been translated into 14 different languages. His circumnavigation of Africa was unseeded in a six-part TV series and his journey through Ireland was the subject of a radio broadcast. He also wrote several articles for English newspapers and journals.
