Peter Paludanus
Peter de Palude (* 1280, † 1342 ) was a late medieval theologian and bishop.
Peter was a member of the Dominican Order. He received at the University of Paris Seine theological education. There he was a student of John of Paris (Jean Quidort ). In 1314 he obtained a master's degree. He was appointed in 1329 to Titularpatriarchen of Jerusalem to 1337 Bishop of couserans. In the emerging theological disputes about the relationship between evolving state power and papal power he represented - as the successor of Thomas Aquinas - a differentiation between natural and supernatural area and called for a separation of religious violence and secular violence.
