Péter Pázmándy

Péter Pazmandy ( born June 7, 1938 in Budapest, † March 23, 2012 in Geneva) was a Hungarian- Swiss football player and coach.

Career

Club career

Pazmandy played in youth at Vasas Budapest. He played with the Hungarian junior national team in 1956 in Vienna, the journey went on to London. In the fall of 1956, the political situation in Hungary was unclear (see Hungarian national uprising ). The England youth association enabled the team therefore financially for the time being to remain in London. Later, the team traveled to Vienna to return by bus to Budapest. All players but refused to return home. The journey of the team then went to Switzerland to play for the Hungarian Red Cross in St. Gallen, Zurich, Geneva, Neuchâtel and Locarno. Pazmandy signed together with Valér Németh and Dezso Makay at Servette FC Genève. He was suspended on the initiative of the Hungarian Football Federation for 18 months. For the " Grenats " in Geneva, played the midfielder in the Charmilles 1958-1968. Pazmandy in 1961 and 1962 under coach Jean Snella and the star striker Jacques Fatton a man in the midfield with Servette Swiss champion. In the 1965/66 season he reached with his club behind champions FC Zurich and was also the runner-up on April 11 in Bern in the cup final against the reigning champions to Jacob Kuhn, Fritz Künzli and Klaus Stürmer. The final was but lost 0-2 gates. Already in the previous year, on 19 April 1965, and he had lost the cup final with 1:2 goals against FC Sion. He played with Servette in the European cup competitions.

After his playing career, he ran from 1968 a café in Geneva.

Coaching career

As a coach he has worked since 1968 with CS Chênois and in the 1972/73 season the team is as a runner-up of the NLB, then NLA risen to the highest Swiss league. In the years 1976-1982 he was first employed as an instructor at Servette. In the 1978/79 season Pazmandy was Swiss champion trainer. His second time as coach of Servette in the 1989/90 season was ended quickly because of health problems.

From 1982 to 1984 he was coach at Lausanne-Sports, before the AC Bellinzona coached from 1984 to 1987. With Bellinzona in 1986 he managed to climb into the NLA. Further stations as a coach at FC Sion were, the brief return in 1989/90 to Servette and from 1991 to 1995 with Stade Nyonnais.
