Peter Pond Lake

Peter Pond Lake is a lake of glacial origin in the Canadian province of Saskatchewan. It is located in northwestern Saskatchewan in boreal forest and within the Canadian Shield. The lake is located further in the catchment area of the Churchill River. The Peter Pond Lake was due to the fur trade route to Methye Portage what eastern Canada with the Mackenzie River area combined. The lake is of a long oval shape with a major axis to the northwest. A peninsula, which extends almost to the western shore of the lake, dividing the lake in the Big Peter Pond ( northern 2/3) and the Little Peter Pond. On the east bank of Little Peter Pond by a narrow isthmus from Churchill Lake is separated.

The La Loche River, which drains the Lac La Loche, flows from the north to the Peter Pond Lake to. Dillon Dillon River flows near the western shore of Peter Pond Lake in the lake. Peter Pond Lake is drained by the Kisis Channel at Buffalo Narrows to the adjacent Churchill Lake.

Originally the two were called Seeteile "Big Buffalo Lake " and "Little Buffalo Lake ". Later, the lake was renamed after Peter Pond. Highway 155 passes Buffalo Narrows and leads along the lake.

Fauna

The following fish species occur in the Peter Pond Lake: Walleye, Canadian walleye, American perch, pike, American char, Heringsmaräne, Coregonus, the Redhorse Catostomus commersonii and Catostomus catostomus and burbot.
