Peter Sands (banker)

Peter Sands ( born January 8, 1962) is a British bank manager. He's since November 2006 CEO of Standard Chartered Bank, one of the largest banks in Britain.

Life

After the visit of Crown Woods Comprehensive School in London and the United World College of the Pacific in Canada, from which he graduated with the International Baccalaureate, he went to Brasenose College, Oxford. He began his career in the Foreign Office of the United Kingdom. But then decided to go where he graduated with a Master of Public Administration with a Harkness Fellowship to Harvard University. Peter Sand worked since 1988 for McKinsey, where he specialized in banking and technology. He became a partner in 2000 and director in 1996.

In May 2002, Peter Sands Group Finance Director of Standard Chartered PLC, even though he had no financial training. In November 2006, he became CEO of the bank. Between 2002 and 2008, operating income was doubled and the number of staff tripled to 75,000. Standard Chartered has the subsequent financial crisis thanks to a solid capital base and the traditional focus on Asian emerging markets as unscathed as no other British bank. The year 2009 could instead be completed for the seventh consecutive year with record results. The UK bank rescue plan, the template for a variety of global initiatives was based on a plan, had developed the Sands. However, Standard Chartered has self- government neither money nor support from central banks claimed. Peter Sands is a member of the Directorate of International Finance (IIF ), and Chairman of the IIF Special Committee on Effective Regulation.

Peter Sands is a member of the Board of the Global Business Coalition on HIV / AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria ( GBC) The British government appointed him a member of the Independent Review of Higher Education Funding and Student Finance. He is also a member of the British Good Work Commission, which is to develop the basis for a fulfilling work in the 21st century.

In 2010, his award European Banker of the Year was awarded.

Peter Sands is married to the writer Betsy Tobin and has four children.
