Peter Schiergen

Peter Schiergen ( born March 23, 1965 in Willich ) is a jockey and trainer in the German flat racing.

Jockey

Schiergen started in 1981, his training as a jockey in Krefeld at the stable of Herbert Cohn. In 1984 he completed this successfully. His first victory he was able to achieve during training on 20 March 1982, when he won with Ofarim in Dusseldorf. He was to become a jockey there six years later the first stable jockey in the stable of Heinz Jentzsch 1989. From 1992 to 1996 he was the most successful German Jockey (Champion Jockey ). He arrived as a jockey in 1451 wins, including twelve in steeplechase and 32 in group races. With 273 victories in 1995, he set a new European record. In 1997 he finished his work as a jockey and was the following year coach.

Coach

Schiergen 's coach since 1998 in Cologne. He could almost seamlessly continue its previous success as a jockey. He won several times, among others, the German Derby, which had been denied him as a jockey. 2011 won coached by him the Prix de l' mare Danedream Arc de Triomphe, having previously been the Grand Prize of Baden and the Oaks d' Italia had been able to win. 2012 won the mare the King George VI & Queen Elizabeth Stakes at Ascot and thus became the most successful after winnings German racehorse of all time.
