Peter Seeberg

Peter Seeberg ( born June 22, 1925 in Skrydstrup; † 8 January 1999 ) was a Danish writer.

Life

Seeberg studied in Copenhagen and Rome literature, but also continued intensively with archeology apart. Among other things, he participated in excavations in Canada and the Persian Gulf. In 1960 he became director of the pin Museum in Viborg and remained until shortly before his death in this position.

As a writer Seeberg debuted in 1956 with his novel Bipersonerne. His work includes novels, short stories, essays and screenplays for films, television and theater plays. He played an important role in the Heretica, an early phase of Danish modernism. For his novel Hyrder 1970 he was awarded the Danish Music Critics' Prize.

Awards

For his body of work he was awarded the Grand Prize of the Danish Academy and in 1983 the Nordic Council Literature Prize, among others. His collection of short stories won the 1990 Ribe Rejsen til the favor of the readers of the Danish weekly newspaper Weekendavisen and was awarded the Weekendavisens litteraturpris.
