Peter Smith (bishop)

Peter David Smith ( born October 20, 1943 in London, United Kingdom), Archbishop of Southwark.

Life

Peter David Smith received on 15 July 1972, the sacrament of Holy Orders.

March 21, 1995, Pope John Paul II appointed Bishop of East Anglia. The Archbishop of Westminster, Cardinal Basil Hume, OSB, gave him on 27 May of the same year, the episcopal ordination; Co-consecrators were the Archbishop of Southwark, Michael George Bowen, and the retired Bishop of East Anglia, Alan Charles Clark. John Paul II appointed him on 26 October 2001 as Archbishop of Cardiff. On April 30, 2010 Pope Benedict XVI appointed him. Archbishop of Southwark. The inauguration took place on 10 June of the same year.

Peter David Smith was invested in the Equestrian Order of the Holy grave in Jerusalem in 2010.
