Peter Sollett

Peter Sollett ( born February 9, 1976 in Bensonhurst, Brooklyn, New York City ) is an American film director and screenwriter.

Life and career

Sollett grew up in Bensonhurst in an Italian- Jewish neighborhood.

His first film was the 26- minute short film Five Feet High and Rising. The screenplay for this film he co-wrote with Eva Vives for his degree at the Tisch School of Arts at New York University. With Five Feet High and Rising Sollett won Film Festival, among other awards at the Sundance Film Festival and the Cannes. The short film is autobiographical Solletts according to his own statement and is based on his childhood in Brooklyn. He also served as the basis for his first feature film Summer in New York.
