Peter Spuhler

Peter Christoph Spuhler ( born January 9, 1959 in Seville, Spain ) is a Swiss entrepreneur and politician of the Swiss People 's Party ( SVP).

In 1989 he took over the Stadler AG vehicles and structures them in the following years to become an internationally successful rail vehicle manufacturer Stadler Rail to. He was also from 1999 to 2012 for the SVP Thurgau member of the National Council.

Life

After Peter Spuhler had spent the school in Zurich, in 1986 he received his degree in business administration at the University of St. Gallen. In his youth, he began a career as a hockey player with the Grasshopper Club Zurich. He is married to his second wife Daniela Spuhler -Hoffmann and is the father of two children. His fortune was estimated in 2012 by the Swiss business magazine balance to 850 million Swiss francs.

Economy

Stadler Rail

In 1987, Peter Spuhler joined his position at the Stadler vehicles AG, which was then headed by Irma Stadler on. Two years later he took over the company with around 20 employees and a turnover of 4.5 million Swiss francs, she restructured and put on a new vehicle ( Stadler GTW ), which was better suited for the modern transport. In order to succeed further in rail vehicle, bought Spuhler 1997, the plant Altenrhein of Schindler Waggon AG. The new holding structure favored the expansion into Germany and Eastern Europe. Meanwhile, Peter Spuhler has made the management of the Stadler Bussnang AG; he now focuses as CEO of the Stadler Rail Group.

Other mandates

Peter Spuhler also presides over the Board of Directors of Aebi Group and has held other board seats, namely the Gleisag ( Rorschach ) and in the Walo Bertschinger AG ( Zurich ). He is also a member of the employers' association Mittelthurgau in Weinfelden, at IG freedom of Industry and Commerce Thurgau ( Weinfelden ) and the information service for public transport (Bern). Peter Spuhler is involved in the Foundation Tele D ( Diessenhofen ) and is Vice President of the operation of the AG ZSC Lions.

Policy

1999 Peter Spuhler was the SVP Thurgau elected to the National Council and confirmed in the elections of 2003 and 2007 and 2011. He was a member of the Parliamentary Commission of Economy and Taxation (CEAT ). The end of 2012 Spuhler resigned from his post as National Council, in order to concentrate on its activities in the economy. His successor is the Thurgau Gross Councillor Verena Herzog.
