Peter-Tobias Stoll

Peter- Tobias Stoll ( born 1959 in Wuppertal ) is a German legal scholar and holds the Chair of International and European Law at the Institute for International Law and European Law at the Georg-August -Universität Göttingen.

Career

Peter- Tobias Stoll spent his school years in Bremen and completed a bank traineeship. After high school he studied in Hamburg, Lausanne and Bonn Law and passed the first state examination. During his studies he became a member of the Société d' Étudiants Germania Lausanne and the Corps Hansea Bonn. After that, he was a research associate at the Institute for International Law at the Christian -Albrechts -University of Kiel. He then completed a legal internship of Schleswig- Holstein and 1988, then the second state examination.

After a period as a research assistant at the Institute of the University of Kiel, he was from 1990 to 1993 a member of the DFG Research Training Group " Business for Technology and Innovation " and "national, European and international environmental law." The promotion followed at the Law Faculty of the Christian -Albrechts- University of Kiel with a dissertation on " technology transfer, internationalization and nationalization tendencies - the design of intergovernmental economic relations, private property rights and transactions through the UN, UNCTAD, WIPO and the Uruguay round of the GATT " which was awarded the Prize of the Kiel eV doctors of Canon Law of the law Faculty of the Christian -Albrechts- University of Kiel.

1993 Stoll became a research fellow at the Max Planck Institute for Comparative Public Law and International Law in Heidelberg and was there for the unit area in International Business Law, South Africa responsible. In 1994 he was a visiting professor at the University of Minnesota. During 1995, he also took over teaching at the Law Faculty of the Ruprecht -Karls- University of Heidelberg, he participated as legal advisor in international negotiations for the federal government (Federal Foreign Office, Federal Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Forestry, Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety).

After his habilitation with the theme " security as a task of the state and society - government planning, the environment and technology law in dealing with uncertainty and risk " in 2001 in Heidelberg he received in the winter semester 2001/2002, an appointment as Professor of Public Law, especially international law ( international Business Law ) at the Georg -August- University of Göttingen, where he respectively as director of the Department of international Economic Law and environmental Law Institute for International Law and European Law, Co-Director of the Department of Atomic Energy and international Environmental Law Institute (along with Georg Nolte ), as is the Managing Director of the Institute operates.

In 2002 he became a member of the Center for European, Governance and Economic Development Research.

In October 2008 he was appointed director of the German -Chinese Institute for Legal Studies at the University of Göttingen.
