The ores were led by a flow of liquid through a series hollow pyramid-shaped boxes in which they separated themselves according to particle size. 1849 he was appointed head of the mountain Oberamt Joachimsthalerstrasse coalfield. This year also saw the invention of the continuous transverse joint cooker. The introduction of this invention in the preparation technology was a major step forward, as a continuous operation was made possible by the shock stove. This separation process based on the different specific gravities of the co-occurrence, the slurry forming ores, other solids and the water that moved in Rittinger's construction on the slightly inclined fault plane in parabolic orbits continuously downward. The customary in Austria method of obtaining salt goes back to Peter Rittinger, the behufs their use by 1856 led experiments on the reproduction of the latent heat in water vapor by water power to evaporate the brine and recognized the principle of the heat pump. As a result, the heat pump was used in all Austrian salt mines for salt extraction.

In 1850 he was appointed as Sektionsrat for the artificial construction and processing specialist at the Ministry of Landescultur and mountain nature Vienna.
