Peter Yarrow

Peter Yarrow ( born May 31, 1938 in New York) is an American singer and member of the especially in the 1960s hugely successful folk group Peter, Paul and Mary. Yarrow co-wrote with Leonard Lipton, the most famous song of the group, Puff, the Magic Dragon ( 1962). In addition, he was involved always politically, such as against the Vietnam War.

Life

Yarrows parents were Jewish immigrants from the Ukraine, who changed the family name from " Yaroshevitz " in " Yarrow ". Peter Yarrow since October 1969 Mary Beth McCarthy, the niece of former presidential candidate Eugene McCarthy married. They have two grown children.

In 2000 he founded "Operation Respect", a project for the education and support of children in countries such as Vietnam, South Africa and Argentina.

Peter, Paul and Mary came to the death of Mary Travers still together, but Yarrow also has appearances with his daughter Bethany Yarrow, who is also a musician.
