Peter Zec

Peter Zec ( born 1956 ) is a German communication and design consultant, and author and editor. He is also a Senator of the international umbrella organization of design ICSID ( International Council of Societies of Industrial Design) and initiator of the Red Dot Design Award. In October 2006, Business Week Peter Zec chose one of the " 20 creative unconventional thinkers who changed the face of their companies and creating completely new markets ".

Life

Peter Zec studied media science, psychology and art history. From 1986 to 1988 he was involved as Head of the image involved in the planning of the resulting in Karlsruhe Centre for Art and Media Technology. Zec was president of the Federal German graphic designer and the Association of German industrial designer and since 1991 is at the top of the Design Zentrum Nordrhein Westfalen. During these years he published books and compendia on design and accepted invitations to lecture around the world.

1993 to 2010 he was Professor of Business Communication at the University of Sciences in Berlin. Since May 2001 he has served as managing partner of Red Dot GmbH & Co. KG, which is why he did from 2002 to exempt from his teaching duties as a professor and completely abandoned the 2010.

Zec believes that design can contribute to a significant increase in value and greater success in the international market, if it is included as a relevant basis in the corporate strategy. Along with Ken Koo, the current managing director of Red Dot Singapore, Zec developed the Red Dot Award: Design Concept.

From September 2005 to October 2007, Zec was president of the international umbrella organization of design ICSID ( International Council of Societies of Industrial Design ) and from October 2006 to October 2007 Chairman of the International Design Alliance IDA, and thus held the highest official offices of the design community. Today he holds as a former Icsid President to the rank of "Icsid Senator " and is consulted on all important issues concerning the Union.

Zec is the father of three children.
