Peter Zorn

Peter Zorn ( Peter also anger; * May 22, 1682 in Hamburg, † January 23, 1746 in Berlin) was a German Lutheran theologian, historian, Hellenist and Hebräist. He also used the pseudonym Theophilus Amelii.

Zorn studied in Leipzig and Wittenberg. In the winter semester 1705/ 06 he enrolled at the University of Rostock as a graduate and completed an exam and an oral exam at the Faculty of Theology. He held in Giessen and Kiel lectures on Greek language and history. In 1715 he became rector at the Gymnasium in Plön. From 1720, he worked as a private scholar in Hamburg. In 1725 he became professor of history and eloquence Stettin. From 1739 he was rector at the Gymnasium in Thorn and got city librarian. Most recently, he lived as a private scholar in Berlin.

Anger was seen as broadly educated scholar who dealt in numerous books especially with church history, ancient history, and theology, as well as with Jewish history and numismatics. He was regarded as contentious ..
